
St. Joseph Cemetery was the first diocesan cemetery to serve Catholics in the Sacramento area. It is located on 21st Street just south of Broadway in the Curtis Park neighborhood. The first person buried was James O’Hara, an Irishman from Folsom, CA, who was killed in the explosion of the steamboat Washoe in 1864.
The database containing names and other information on persons buried at St. Joseph was compiled by volunteers. It is continually being updated with new information and corrections.
